Advisory Council meeting on July Charter implementation set for Monday
An Advisory Council meeting has been convened for Monday, November 3, amid ongoing political discussions over the implementation of the July National Charter and several reform proposals, including a possible referendum.
Following the meeting, a press conference will be held at the State Guest House Jamuna on behalf of the Advisory Council, according to official sources.
An official from the Office of the Chief Adviser said the interim government may announce its decision regarding the timing of a possible referendum or the introduction of a proportional representation (PR) system in either chamber of Parliament after the meeting.
On Sunday, November 2, the Press Wing of the Chief Adviser’s Office informed that journalists would be briefed formally at 12 noon on Monday. However, it has not yet been decided who will deliver the briefing on behalf of the Advisory Council.
It may be recalled that after the signing of the July Charter last October, differences of opinion emerged among several political parties including the BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, and NCP, regarding the Consensus Commission’s recommendations on its implementation.
