Air India engine catches fire shortly after takeoff
An Air India flight bound for Indore was forced to return to Delhi shortly after takeoff, after a “fire indication” was detected in its right engine, according to The Times of India.
Air India said flight AI 2913 took off from Delhi to Indore on Sunday (August 31) morning. When the engine problem was detected, the pilot followed the prescribed safety protocol, shut down the engine, and safely landed the plane back in Delhi.
No passengers were injured in the incident. Arrangements are being made to send the passengers on another flight. The affected aircraft has been grounded for inspection.
India’s aviation safety regulator DGCA has been informed about the incident.
