Air India flight returns to Hong Kong after mid-air technical issue
An Air India flight from Hong Kong to Delhi had to turn back Monday after the crew detected a possible technical fault mid-air.
Flight AI315, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, returned to Hong Kong as a safety precaution, the airline confirmed.
This incident follows closely after Lufthansa Flight LH752, traveling from Frankfurt to Hyderabad, was forced to return due to a reported bomb threat. While Lufthansa officially blamed lack of landing clearance, airport officials linked the return to the threat. The plane safely landed back in Frankfurt.
Air India is also under intense scrutiny after the tragic crash of Flight AI171 on June 12. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner went down shortly after taking off from Ahmedabad, killing all 241 on board. This remains one of India’s deadliest aviation disasters.
Families and the public have raised concerns about Air India’s safety standards, questioning maintenance practices and pilot training.
In response, the government has set up a high-level probe with aviation experts from the DGCA, AAIB, and independent specialists to investigate the crash thoroughly.
