Aishwarya Rai turns heads in gown adorned with 7,000 pearls

Even after the Cannes Film Festival has concluded, Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai Bachchan continues to be a topic of conversation. An unreported haute couture look she wore at this year's festival has been unveiled by international fashion house Tony Ward, captivating fashion enthusiasts worldwide.

At the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, Aishwarya had already garnered praise for her blue mermaid gown and white tuxedo look. Now, in new photos released after the festival, she is seen in an ivory strapless gown that masterfully blends regal beauty with modern design.

The gown's biggest highlight was its exquisite craftsmanship. Over 7,000 pearls were meticulously hand-stitched onto the entire ensemble. When light fell on the pearls, the shimmering reflection gave the dress an ethereal dimension. The three-dimensional arrangement of the pearls created a sense of fluidity, reminiscent of ocean waves.

To enhance the dramatic beauty, approximately 40 metres of ivory silk taffeta were used in the gown. The voluminous ruffles across the shoulders resembled flower petals from a distance, lending a sculptural feel to the entire look. The creation, designed by renowned Lebanese designer Tony Ward, took approximately 600 hours to complete.

Despite the grandeur of the gown, Aishwarya opted for restrained styling. Instead of heavy jewellery, she chose minimalist diamond accessories, including long diamond earrings and a statement diamond ring, ensuring the gown remained the focal point.

Her makeup was equally understated. A luminous complexion, light shimmery eyeshadow, flawless eyeliner, thick lashes and soft nude-pink lips created a soft glam look. She eschewed heavy contouring, allowing her natural beauty to shine.

Her signature side-parted soft wavy hairstyle added a touch of classic Hollywood glamour to the overall look.

Fashion analysts noted that this look embodies both the grandeur of statement haute couture and the sophistication of 'quiet luxury'. Even after the red-carpet formality is over, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's unseen look once again proves that her appeal as one of the world's foremost style icons remains unwavering.
