Akram Khan hails Australia win as Bangladesh's greatest Test achievement

Former captain Akram Khan has described Bangladesh's historic nine-wicket victory in the Darwin Test on Australian soil as the greatest achievement in Bangladesh's Test history. In a reaction to AFP, he said such a win was a long-cherished dream of Bangladesh cricket.

Akram said, "This is something we used to dream of. But none of us expected Bangladesh to win in such a dominant fashion. We are extremely happy and proud."

In his view, beating a full-strength Australia on their own soil is the highest achievement in Bangladesh's Test cricket.

He said the success is not the result of any single player's effort but the collective performance of the entire team across batting, bowling and fielding.

Former Bangladesh spinner and national selector Abdur Razzak also believes the win strengthens the case for Bangladesh to play more Tests against Australia. In his words, Bangladesh's position in the World Test Championship and recent performances prove the team deserves regular opportunities against strong opponents.

Razzak also noted that long-term investment in domestic first-class cricket and Test cricket has played a key role in Bangladesh's progress.
