'Ali' gets positive response on OTT
In celebration of Eid, television and OTT platforms feature various special programmes. Continuing this trend, the digital premiere of the unique film 'Ali' took place on the popular Bangladeshi OTT platform 'Bongo'. Directed by Biplob Haider, the film is now available for audiences to enjoy from the comfort of their homes via the Bongo app and website on smartphones or laptops.
The film features strong performances from actors including Irfan Sazzad, Melita Mehjabin Orpa, Misha Sawdagor, Kazi Hayat, Shatabdi Wadud and Shaukat Sujon. Their acting brings to life an emotionally charged human story.
'Ali' revolves around an autistic and speech-impaired young man and his sister Rashmi. Irfan Sazzad plays the central character Ali, delivering his performance entirely through sign language, offering a unique experience for viewers. Actress Melita Mehjabin Orpa appears as Rashmi.
The story follows Rashmi, who dreams of studying in Dhaka and becoming self-reliant. However, her brother Ali is reluctant to leave her alone in the challenging urban environment. After a tragic road accident separates the siblings, Ali endures a harsh struggle through abuse, neglect and loneliness without giving up. Meanwhile, Rashmi desperately searches for her brother. The film's narrative centres on their separation, struggle, and yearning for reunion.
Originally released in cinemas on July 18 last year, the digital premiere of 'Ali' on Bongo offers a new opportunity for those who missed it on the big screen. The film has already garnered praise from OTT audiences. Positive discussions regarding the story and emotional presentation of 'Ali' are evident in various film-focused groups on social media.
