Off-spinner Alis Al Islam has been included in the team in place of all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin, who has been ruled out due to injury from the squad announced for the 20th Asian Games to be held in Japan. A change has come in the Bangladesh cricket team even before the start of the Asian Games. Saifuddin cannot play in the Asian Games due to a hamstring injury in the right leg. In his place Alis, 29, has been included in the team. Alis is mainly known as a specialist in limited-overs cricket. He has also recently played for the Bangladesh ‘A’ team in the unofficial ODI series held in South Africa.

এশিয়ান গেমস শুরুর আগেই বাংলাদেশ ক্রিকেট দলে এসেছে পরিবর্তন। জাপানে অনুষ্ঠেয় ২০তম এশিয়ান গেমসের জন্য ঘোষিত স্কোয়াড থেকে চোটের কারণে ছিটকে গেছেন অলরাউন্ডার মোহাম্মদ সাইফউদ্দিন। তাঁর জায়গায় দলে নেওয়া হয়েছে অফস্পিনার আলিস আল ইসলামকে। ডান পায়ের হ্যামস্ট্রিংয়ের চোটের কারণে এশিয়ান গেমসে খেলতে পারছেন না সাইফউদ্দিন। তাঁর পরিবর্তে ২৯ বছর বয়সী আলিসকে দলে অন্তর্ভুক্ত করা হয়েছে। সীমিত ওভারের ক্রিকেটে বিশেষজ্ঞ হিসেবেই মূলত পরিচিত আলিস। সম্প্রতি দক্ষিণ আফ্রিকায় অনুষ্ঠিত অনানুষ্ঠানিক ওয়ানডে সিরিজে বাংলাদেশ ‘এ’ দলের হয়েও খেলেছেন তিনি।
