Alvarez firm on leaving Atletico Madrid amid rising tension

Argentine forward Julian Alvarez has decided to leave Atletico Madrid. Although he sought the cooperation of coach Diego Simeone to facilitate his departure, he grew angry after being denied the opportunity to speak with him directly, clearly instructing club officials to exclude him from any future plans.

According to a report by the Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo, the 26-year-old Alvarez has been expressing his desire to leave Atletico for some time. He wanted to reach a resolution by discussing the matter directly with Simeone, but was left frustrated upon returning from vacation to find he could not speak with the coach.

The report notes that Barcelona remains Alvarez's primary choice for his next destination. Upon returning to the club, he discovered that Simeone had gone to Ibiza for a two-day holiday. At the same time, club Chief Executive Miguel Angel Gil Marin was also on vacation, preventing Alvarez from speaking with him as well.

The Argentine forward subsequently clarified his stance to the officials present at the club, explicitly stating that no future plans should be built around him. This indicates he will not budge an inch from his decision to leave Atletico.

Mundo Deportivo claims that Alvarez believes Simeone lacked the courage to face the situation and discuss it with him, even though Simeone was aware that the player wanted to talk to resolve ongoing issues.

This incident has left Alvarez disappointed. While club CEO Gil Marin could have played a crucial role in managing the situation, his absence on vacation prevented any discussion with Alvarez, further intensifying the forward's anger.

The situation is expected to heat up further within the next two days, when Simeone's squad is scheduled to return to training. At that point, the coach will have no alternative but to sit down for a direct discussion with Alvarez. If the forward remains firm in his decision, his relationship with Atletico could become even more complicated.
