Americans double advantage right before break in Seattle
The United States men's national soccer team has strengthened its grip on the match, moving to a 2-0 lead over Australia just before halftime in their highly anticipated FIFA World Cup 2026 Group D showdown at Seattle Stadium.
The match is currently live in the first half.
Building on the momentum of an early 11th-minute breakthrough via a Cameron Burgess own goal, the Americans struck again in the 43rd minute. Young defender Alex Freeman found the back of the net to give Mauricio Pochettino’s side a commanding cushion and send the home crowd into a frenzy.
As it stands live, this result places the USA firmly at the summit of Group D with a perfect six points from their opening two fixtures. The Socceroos face an incredibly steep mountain to climb in the second half if they hope to disrupt the co-hosts' momentum and salvage a result in Seattle.
