State Minister for Youth and Sports Md Aminul Haque has congratulated newly elected Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Tamim Iqbal, Vice-President Fahim Sinha, and all members of the board following the completion of the board’s election process.

In a statement on Sunday (June 7), the minister praised Tamim’s leadership qualities and immense contribution to Bangladesh cricket after the former national captain secured the presidency through a direct vote of the board directors.

Under the BCB constitution, 23 directors were elected from three categories, while two additional members were nominated by the National Sports Council (NSC). Tamim was subsequently elected president with the highest support among the 25-member board.

The sports minister expressed confidence that Bangladesh cricket would enter a new era under the leadership of one of the country's most accomplished cricketers. He said Tamim’s vast experience on the field, combined with the collective expertise of the board, would help transform the BCB into a stronger and more professional institution.

He also voiced optimism that the new administration would successfully address both on-field and off-field challenges, strengthen domestic cricket structures and further enhance Bangladesh’s reputation in the international arena.

Highlighting the importance of grassroots development, the minister said the newly elected board is expected to play a significant role in advancing cricket at all levels, from local talent development to international competition.

Reaffirming the government's commitment to supporting the country's cricketing progress, he pledged full cooperation from the Ministry of Youth and Sports and wished success to President Tamim Iqbal, Vice-President Fahim Sinha and the entire BCB board in their new responsibilities.
