Another 5,000 metric tonnes of diesel arrives from India
Another 5,000 metric tonnes of diesel has arrived at the Parbatipur Rail Head Depot in Dinajpur from India's Numaligarh refinery terminal through the Bangladesh-India Friendship Pipeline.
The consignment reached the Parbatipur depot around 11:30 pm on Thursday, April 30, depot in-charge Ahsan Habib Chowdhury confirmed.
With this shipment, a total of 25,000 metric tonnes of diesel have been imported to the Parbatipur depot in April. Earlier in March, 22,000 tonnes of diesel arrived. As part of regular imports, pumping began from India's Numaligarh terminal on April 28, and the entire process was completed by midnight on April 30.
Under the agreement between Bangladesh and India, this fuel oil is being supplied through an underground pipeline. This system enables faster and safer fuel transportation and plays a crucial role in ensuring the country's energy security.
Meanwhile, depot sources said plans are in place to import sufficient quantities of diesel in May as well to keep fuel supply normal across the country.
