Another humiliating defeat for the Tigers
Bangladesh suffered another shameful loss in the ongoing ICC ODI World Cup. After starting the tournament with a dominating win against Afghanistan, Chandika Hathurusingh's disciples are losing continuously. Bangladesh are not able to build any resistance against the opponents. Even on Tuesday, the team lost against South Africa miserably at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai .
The Proteas won the match by 149 runs. This is Bangladesh's fourth consecutive defeat in this World Cup. Even on the day of such a defeat, Mahmudullah Riyad won the hearts of Bangladeshi supporters, scoring a fabulous century.
Chasing the mammoth target of 383, Bangladesh were bowled out for just 233 runs in 46.4 overs. Bangladesh lost 5 wickets for only 58 runs and fell into an extreme batting disaster. Tanzid Hasan Tamim (12), Nazmul Hossain Shanto (0), captain Shakib Al Hasan (1), and Mushfiqur Rahim (8) failed with the bat. Litton Kumar Das scored 22 runs off 44 balls. Mahmudullah Riyad fought till the end, Nasum Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud and Mustafizur Rahman gave him some support.
Nasum scored 19 and Hasan Mahmud scored 15 runs. Mahmudullah made a pair of 68 runs for the ninth wicket with Mustafiz. Mahmudullah, who is known as 'silent killer', scored 111 runs off 111 balls.
Earlier, batting first, South Africa scored 382 runs for 5 wickets in 50 overs. Opener Quinton de Kock played a brilliant innings of 174 runs off 140 balls with 7 sixes and 15 fours. Heinrich Klaasen made 90 runs from 49 balls while acting captain Aiden Markram scored 60 off 69 balls.
