Apple has warned that iPhone users running older versions of iOS are at risk of cyber attacks.

The company recently advised that due to the imminent threat of cyber attacks, users of older iPhone models should update to the latest version of the operating system as soon as possible.

According to Apple, two new iOS exploit kits or hacking tools named 'Koruna' and 'Darksord' have recently been identified. Various hacker groups are using these tools to spread malware on older iPhone models.

The Koruna exploit kit is capable of attacking iPhones running iOS versions 13 through 17.2.1. Meanwhile, the Darksord kit can create vulnerabilities on devices running iOS versions 18.4 through 18.7.

Experts believe these hacking tools are now being bought and sold on online markets, making them accessible to ordinary cybercriminals. This has created significant security risks for regular users.

For users who are unable to update to the latest iOS version, Apple has recommended activating 'Lockdown Mode'. This security feature, introduced in 2022, helps protect devices from malicious web content and spyware attacks.

Apple claims that no successful spyware attack has been detected on any device with Lockdown Mode activated.
