Apple issues warning as scammers exploiting FaceTime to target iPhone users

Apple has warned iPhone users to remain vigilant against a growing wave of scams carried out through its FaceTime video-calling service, urging users not to share personal or financial information with unknown callers.

According to the company, fraudsters are increasingly using FaceTime to impersonate bank officials, law enforcement officers, technical support representatives, and even Apple employees in an attempt to steal sensitive information or money from victims.

Apple stressed that it will never contact customers through unsolicited FaceTime calls to request passwords, Apple ID credentials, verification codes, banking details, or payment information.

The company advised users to be cautious of unexpected FaceTime calls, especially those claiming there is an issue with their Apple account, device, or financial accounts.

Users are encouraged to hang up immediately if they receive suspicious calls and verify any claims directly through official channels.

Apple also reminded users to enable two-factor authentication, keep their devices updated with the latest software, and avoid clicking on suspicious links or sharing one-time verification codes.

Cybersecurity experts say scammers often rely on urgency and fear to pressure victims into acting quickly. They recommend independently contacting banks, Apple Support, or other organizations using official phone numbers or websites rather than responding to unsolicited calls.
