Asha Bhosle hospitalized in critical condition
Legendary Indian playback singer Asha Bhosle has been admitted to hospital after falling seriously ill.
She was taken to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on Saturday (April 11). According to ND TV reports, the 92-year-old icon suffered a cardiac arrest and is currently in critical condition. She is undergoing treatment in the hospital’s emergency medical unit.
Following reports of her hospitalisation, her granddaughter, singer Zanai Bhosle, shared a statement on X, clarifying that the veteran singer was admitted due to extreme exhaustion along with a chest infection.
Dr. Pratit Samdani of Breach Candy Hospital confirmed that the veteran singer experienced cardiac arrest on Saturday, after which she was rushed to the facility. She remains under close medical supervision.
Meanwhile, Bhosle’s granddaughter, Zanai Bhosle, shared an update on Instagram, stating that the singer had been hospitalized due to extreme fatigue and a chest infection. She also requested privacy for the family, adding that treatment is ongoing and they are hopeful for positive news soon.
Asha Bhosle is widely regarded as one of the most iconic and versatile playback singers in Indian music history. Over a career spanning more than eight decades, she has recorded thousands of songs in multiple Indian and international languages, excelling across genres including classical, folk, pop, and ghazal.
In recognition of her immense contribution to Indian music, she has received numerous accolades, including the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award and the Padma Vibhushan, along with several National Film Awards and Filmfare Awards.
