Bangladesh fielding coach James Pamment is set to miss the upcoming white-ball series against Australia due to ongoing injury concerns, paving the way for BCB coach Ashikuzzaman to temporarily take over duties.

Pamment, who last served in the role during the series against New Zealand, sustained a back injury shortly before the Pakistan Test series last month. Since then, he has been undergoing rehabilitation and has not returned to team duties.

He also missed the Pakistan series and will remain unavailable for the Australia tour as he continues recovery.

Sources suggest that repeated injuries and ongoing physical setbacks have raised uncertainty over his long-term availability, despite his contract with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) running until the 2027 World Cup.

With Pamment sidelined, Ashikuzzaman will assume responsibility as fielding coach for the Australia series, having previously handled the role during the Pakistan tour.

Australia are scheduled to tour Bangladesh for a white-ball series from June 9 to 21. The three-match ODI series will be held in Dhaka on June 9, 11 and 14 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. The tour will then shift to Chattogram for a three-match T20 series on June 17, 19 and 21 at the Bir Shrestha Flight Lieutenant M. Ruhul Amin Stadium.
