Former Bangladesh captain Mohammad Ashraful has been appointed as the national team’s batting coach for the upcoming home series against Ireland.

Additionally, former spinner and BCB director Abdur Razzak have been given team director role.

The decisions were finalised at the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) meeting on Monday (November 3), confirmed BCB director and media committee chairman Amjad Hossain.

Ashraful, Bangladesh’s youngest Test centurion, is currently the head coach of Barishal Division in domestic cricket and previously worked as batting coach for Rangpur Riders.

Although Ashraful joins the setup, the existing coaching staff will remain with the team. Bangladesh had no specialist batting coach in recent times, with assistant coach Mohammad Salahuddin handling the role.

Ireland will play two Tests and three T20Is during the November tour. The first Test begins on November 11 in Sylhet, followed by the second Test in Mirpur on November 19. The T20Is will be held on November 27 and 29 in Chattogram, with the final match on December 2 in Mirpur.
