Asif Akbar terms arrest news 'rumour'

Turning down the claim of his arrest, Musician Asif Akbar has saud that such news which went viral on social media, is a 'rumour'.

Earlier on Saturday night, a news claiming that the police's Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested Asif Akbar from FDC on Friday night in a case related to copyright and digital content spread on social media. It was said that Asif Akbar was arrested in the case of lyricist Shafiq Tuhin.

In view of this, Asif told the media that it was just a rumour. Meanwhile, Asif Akbar shared a photo of his arrest during the Awami League government on his Facebook account. He wrote: "Eight years have passed since my arrest during the fascist era. I was in Keraniganj jail, Madam Khaleda Zia was in Bakshibazar sub-jail. It's nice to think that Madam used to get news about me through doctors, and forbade me to be afraid."

Regarding the news of his arrest, CID Special Superintendent of Police (Media) Jasim Uddin Khan said that the news is not true.

Tejgaon Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kyashinu also said that they do not have any such news.
