At least 12 die after consuming toxic liquor in India

At least 12 people have died after consuming toxic liquor in the Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh, India. More than 10 others have fallen ill in the incident.

Authorities have sealed local liquor shops as a precautionary measure and launched an investigation to bring the situation under control.

Officials said the post-mortem reports have not yet been received, and the exact cause of death will only be confirmed after a full investigation and forensic tests. Police are looking into the type of liquor consumed by the victims and where it was procured.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed deep concern over the incident and ordered a high-level investigation. He said strict legal action would be taken against those responsible.

Speaking to reporters, the chief minister said, "I have directed the concerned ministers and officials to visit the spot immediately. We will conduct a thorough investigation and take stringent action. Our government will not tolerate such incidents."
