Attorney General Asaduzzaman seeks BNP nomination after resign
Attorney General Md Asaduzzaman has announced his resignation to contest the upcoming national election, seeking nomination from the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) for the Jhenaidah-1 (Shailkupa) constituency.
He made the announcement at a press conference held at the Attorney General’s Office on Wednesday (November 5), after the appeal hearing on the caretaker government restoration case.
“I have sought nomination from the BNP and I am hopeful of getting it,” he told reporters, adding that he plans to resign officially before the election period begins.
Asaduzzaman, appointed Attorney General on August 5 last year following the political transition, previously served as BNP’s central human rights affairs secretary. He has recently been active in local campaigns and public events in Jhenaidah.
BNP has so far announced candidates for 237 constituencies, but the three seats in Jhenaidah remain undecided.
