Australia beat India to become world champions

Australia have beat hosts India by six wickets to become the new champions in the World Cup 2023.

Labuschagne and Head have recorded the second-highest partnership in a final of the ODI World Cup. The duo stitched a 180-plus run-stand for Australia in the World Cup final against India.

Australia were on the money in the field and with the ball and India had to grind their way to 240 all out. Australia captain Pat Cummins won the toss and chose to bowl first and India's Rohit Sharma said that they would have batted first anyway. Virat Kohli came in all guns blazing but Rohit soon fell to Glenn Maxwell thanks to a fantastic catch from Travis Head three runs short of his half century.

Started their World Cup campaign by recording two losses in India, Australia suffered defeats to India and South Africa before winning 8 straight games to enter the World Cup semi-finals. The five-time champions outclassed the Proteas in the rematch of the 1999 semi-finals. The record-time winners clinched victory in another battle against India in the reply of the 2003 World Cup final.
