Australia tough opponents, but we will give our best: Taskin

Ahead of the two-match Test series in Australia, Bangladesh pacer Taskin Ahmed has spoken about both the excitement and the challenge. Although he has played multiple limited-overs World Cups in Australia before, this will be his first time playing a Test against Australia on their soil.

Speaking at a press conference in Darwin, Taskin said playing a Test against one of the best teams in the world is both difficult and a matter of honour and pride for Bangladesh. He is also enjoying the weather in Darwin, having come here for the first time. Taskin said while he has visited Australia a few times before, coming to Darwin and playing a Test series here is a first for him.

Taskin sees the opportunity to play against a team like Australia on their home ground as a great honour. He said they know the series will not be easy, but Bangladesh is optimistic about doing something good against Australia and will try to give their best.

Ahead of the main series, Bangladesh lost to a Cricket Australia XI in a practice match by an innings, being bowled out for just 54 in the second innings. Regarding that loss, Taskin said the feeling of losing was certainly not good. However, such things happen in cricket, and the match served as good preparation for adapting to Australian conditions.

Taskin also said the memory of winning the ODI series against Australia 2-1 on home soil in June is giving them confidence. However, he cautioned that there is a big difference between home and away conditions. According to him, while that series is a great memory for Bangladesh, the situation is completely different this time on Australian soil.

The first Test of the two-match series between Australia and Bangladesh will begin on August 13 in Darwin. The second and final Test will be held in Mackay on August 22.
