Ayub Bachchu’s birthday today

To his fans, he was not just a musician but a magician who wove life’s stories into the strings of his guitar. Today, August 16, is his birthday. Born in Chattogram in 1962, this legendary figure of Bangladeshi band music would have turned 63 today.

Although he passed away suddenly on October 18, 2018, his music continues to live on with a vibrant voice. As the founder of LRB, he not only formed a band but also laid a strong foundation for band music in Bangladesh. Songs like Ferari Mon, Cholo Bodle Jai, Ekhon Onek Raat, Rupali Guitar, and Koshto Pete Bhalobashi have become timeless classics, cherished and passed down through generations.

Ayub Bachchu’s solo career was just as remarkable. Beginning with Rokto Golap, followed by Moyna and LRB’s first double album, he opened a new chapter in Bangladesh’s music history. His 1993 album Sukh brought him unparalleled success.

Ayub Bachchu was a versatile artist—singer, songwriter, composer, and music director—who left a lasting mark on modern music, folk songs, and film music alike. Despite his fame, he remained humble and simple, always wishing to be just a “good human being.”
