Bailey Road fire claims life of BUET student from Barishal

The list of 45 deceased in the fire at a restaurant on Bailey Road in Dhaka includes the body of Nahian Amin, a talented student from Barishal.

Nahian, the only son of mentally challenged Riazul Amin Babu, was studying at BUET in Dhaka. He was burnt to death in the fire after going to Kacchi Bhai's Biryani House to eat on Thursday night.

When his body was brought to Polytechnic Road in Ward 15 of Barishal at 3pm on Friday, the area was filled with the cries of relatives and neighbors.

After the Asar prayers, he was laid to rest in the Muslim graveyard. Nahian left behind his parents and a sister to mourn his death.

Nahian, student of Barishal Zila School, was extremely talented, said his neighbor and teacher of the school Mizanur Rahman.

The teacher added that Nahian passed the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) exams from Notre Dame College and secured the opportunity to study at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET).

Mizanur Rahman has urged the government to ensure the safety of the eateries.
