BAJUS raises gold prices again, 22-carat now Tk 2.35 lakh

Following the rise in raw gold prices in the international market, the Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS) has decided to increase the prices of all types of gold in the country. The price per bhori has been raised by a maximum of Tk 1,108, setting the new price for 22-carat gold at Tk 2,35,146 per bhori, inclusive of VAT.

BAJUS announced the revised gold prices through a notification on Tuesday morning, August 11. The new prices took effect from 10am today and will remain in effect across all jewelry establishments in the country until further notice.

Under the new rates, customers will have to pay Tk 2,35,146 per bhori (11.664 grams) for 22-carat gold. The price for 21-carat gold has been set at Tk 2,24,590 per bhori, while 18-carat gold will cost Tk 1,92,864 per bhori. Additionally, traditional method gold will be sold at Tk 1,57,522 per bhori.

BAJUS has clarified that the applicable VAT is already included in the selling price of gold and silver ornaments. Therefore, no separate VAT can be charged from customers at the time of purchase. However, making charges will apply additionally depending on the design and craftsmanship. The existing rules regarding VAT deduction, making charges and stone prices for exchange or purchase of ornaments will remain in effect.

On August 8, BAJUS had last increased gold prices by Tk 4,374 per bhori, setting the price of 22-carat gold at Tk 2,34,038. At that time, 21-carat gold was sold at Tk 2,23,541, 18-carat at Tk 1,91,931 and traditional gold at Tk 1,56,822 per bhori.

According to BAJUS, gold prices have been adjusted 101 times so far this year. Of these, prices were increased 50 times, decreased 50 times, and VAT rates were adjusted once. In 2025, BAJUS adjusted gold prices 93 times, with 64 increases and 29 decreases.
