Bangabandhu Stadium renamed as National Stadium
The Bangabandhu National Stadium has officially been renamed the "National Stadium."
The National Sports Council confirmed the change through a notification signed by its Secretary, Mohammad Aminul Islam, on Saturday (February 15).
Originally known as "Dhaka Stadium," this historic venue was renamed Bangabandhu National Stadium during the tenure of the Awami League government.
Established in 1954 in Dhaka's Paltan area, the stadium has been a key venue for various sports, including cricket and football. Over time, it has become primarily a football venue.
With a seating capacity of approximately 36,000, the stadium stands as a symbol of history, tradition, and sporting excellence. Currently undergoing renovations, the newly named National Stadium will soon reopen with a refreshed look.
