Bangladesh ‘A’ bounce back to beat Nepal by 32 runs in Top End T20 series
After a heavy defeat against the Pakistan Shaheens in their opening match, Bangladesh ‘A’ showed resilience, defeating Nepal by 32 runs in the second game of the ongoing Top End T20 series on Saturday (August 16).
Batting first, Bangladesh scored 186/6 in 20 overs. The innings got off to a strong start with openers Mohammad Naim Sheikh and Jishan Alam putting on a 60-run partnership in the powerplay. Naim fell for 25 off 18 balls, but Jishan continued his aggressive form, striking 72 runs off 45 deliveries. In the middle order, Afif Hossain Dhrubo played a blistering unbeaten 48 off just 23 balls, ensuring Bangladesh posted a competitive total of 187 despite limited contributions from other batsmen.
Chasing 187, Nepal struggled to build partnerships. Kushal Malla top-scored with a resilient 59 not out off 47 balls, supported by Asif Sheikh (28) and Lokesh Bam (15), but the target proved too steep. Nandan Yadav remained unbeaten on 14.
Bangladesh’s bowling was led by Rakibul Hasan, who took 3 wickets for 18 runs, while Hasan Mahmud chipped in with 2 wickets, restricting Nepal’s chase.
