Bangladesh announce ODI squad for Sri Lanka series
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a 16-member squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka, with the notable inclusion of Mohammad Naim Sheikh, who returns to the national side after a prolonged absence.
Naim, who last played an ODI in the 2023 series against Sri Lanka, earned his recall following consistent performances in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) and Dhaka Premier League (DPL). His selection marks one of the few surprises in an otherwise familiar-looking squad led by new ODI captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz.
The top order includes Tanzid Hasan Tamim and Parvez Hossain Emon, who join Naim in the opening slots. The middle order is bolstered by the likes of Najmul Hossain Shanto, Towhid Hridoy, Litton Das, and Zaker Ali Anik.
Among the all-rounders and bowlers, Shamim Patwary gets a call-up, while spinners Rishad Hossain and Tanvir Islam add variety to the attack.
Bangladesh's pace department sees the return of experienced campaigners Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed, both of whom have recovered from recent injuries. Young pacers Tanzim Hasan S
akib, Nahid Rana, and Hasan Mahmud complete the fast-bowling lineup.
The series is set to play a crucial role in building a balanced ODI unit ahead of future ICC tournaments.
