Bangladesh announces full-strength squad for Asian Games

Bangladesh has announced a strong squad ahead of the men’s cricket event of the Asian Games to be held in Japan. Test captain Najmul Hossain Shanto has found a place as a surprise inclusion in the 15-member squad led by Liton Das.

Pace bowler Nahid Rana is not in the squad due to injury. Experienced pacer Taskin Ahmed has also not been kept in the squad. However, apart from them, most of the regular and experienced cricketers of the national team have been retained in the side.

Participating teams are taking the men’s cricket event of this Asian Games with considerable importance. Five Test-playing countries including India and Pakistan have announced strong squads. As a result, Bangladesh has also walked the path of forming the team with the best cricketers.

Japan is the host of the 20th Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. This edition will begin on September 19 next. The men’s cricket competition in the Games will be held in the T20 format.

Towhid Hridoy will be the vice-captain alongside Liton Das in the Bangladesh team. In the batting department are Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Parvez Hossain Emon, Saif Hassan, Najmul Hossain Shanto and Yasir Ali Chowdhury. All-rounders include Mosaddek Hossain Saikat, Rishad Hossain, Sheikh Mehedi Hasan and Mohammad Saifuddin.

In the pace attack are Shoriful Islam, Mustafizur Rahman and Hasan Mahmud, while Nasum Ahmed and Rishad Hossain will be in the spin department.
