Bangladesh announces Test squad for Pakistan tour with two debutants
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming Test series against Pakistan national cricket team, with two new inclusions and the return of several experienced players.
Najmul Hossain Shanto will lead the side, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz has been named vice-captain. The squad was unveiled on Sunday night.
Uncapped opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim and middle-order batter Amit Hasan earned maiden call-ups, rewarded for consistent performances in domestic cricket.
Pacer Ebadot Hossain makes a notable return after a lengthy injury layoff, having missed the 2023 World Cup and underwent surgery and rehabilitation. He briefly featured in 2025 before being sidelined again.
The pace attack is further strengthened by the inclusion of Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam, while off-spinner Naem Hasan returns to the Test setup after nearly a year.
The two-match Test series will begin on May 8 at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, with the second Test scheduled for May 16 at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
The series is part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025–2027 cycle.
