Bangladesh avoid whitewash with 7-wicket win over Zimbabwe
After losing the first two ODIs of the series, Bangladesh avoided a whitewash with a dominant seven-wicket victory over Zimbabwe in the third and final match at Harare on Saturday, July 11.
Chasing a target of 200 runs, openers Soumya Sarkar and Tanzid Hasan gave the visitors a flying start with a 151-run opening partnership. Soumya departed for 69 off 82 balls, but Tanzid continued his fine form, scoring 94 off 101 balls, falling just short of a century.
Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto remained unbeaten on 18 to guide the team to victory.
Earlier, Zimbabwe were bowled out for 199 in 48.1 overs after winning the toss and opting to bat. Wesley Madhevere top-scored with 75, while Brad Evans provided late fireworks with a quickfire 51 off 43 balls.
Shariful Islam was the pick of the Bangladesh bowlers, taking 4 wickets for 44 runs. Taskin Ahmed and Tanvir Islam claimed two wickets each.
