Bangladesh beat Windies by 7 runs in T20 series opener
Bangladesh kicked off their three-match T20 series with a thrilling 7-run victory over the West Indies on Monday morning at Arnos Vale Ground, Kingstown, St. Vincent.
Defending 147/6 in 20 overs, Mahedi Hasan’s career-best 4/13 and Hasan Mahmud’s 2/18 helped the Tigers restrict the West Indies to 140, despite a fiery 60 off 35 balls from Rovman Powell.
Earlier, Bangladesh’s innings was built around Soumya Sarkar, who contributed 43 off 32 balls, and Shamim Hossain, who added a quickfire 27 off 13 balls. West Indies bowlers Akeal Hosein and Obed McCoy each took two wickets, but were unable to prevent Bangladesh from setting a competitive total.
With this win, Bangladesh lead the series 1-0. The remaining two matches are scheduled for December 18 and 20, with both teams gearing up for more action at the same venue.
