Bangladesh continue Asian Games Hockey triumph with 3-1 win over Indonesia

Bangladesh secured their second straight win in the men’s hockey competition at the Asian Games on Saturday (September 26), beating Indonesia 3-1 after recovering from an early setback.

Indonesia took the lead in the sixth minute through Mochamad Fatur Rohman, but Bangladesh quickly hit back as penalty-corner specialist Amirul Islam equalised in the 11th minute.

Amirul struck again in the 31st minute to put Bangladesh ahead before Rasel Mahmud Jimmy sealed the victory with a field goal six minutes later.

The win followed Bangladesh’s 5-1 victory over Sri Lanka. They had earlier suffered defeats to South Korea and hosts Japan, losing 5-0 and 6-1 respectively.

Bangladesh will face India in their final group-stage match on September 28, with the result crucial to their hopes of advancing to the next round.
