Bangladesh deliver ‘Banglawash’ of Pakistan in historic 2–0 Test Series sweep
Bangladesh sealed a commanding 2–0 Test series win over Pakistan with a 78-run victory in the second Test at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, completing a historic 'Banglawash' on home soil.
Chasing 121 for victory on the final day, Pakistan national cricket team were bowled out for 358 in their second innings, handing Bangladesh a memorable series sweep.
Pakistan resumed the fifth day at 316/7, needing 104 more runs with three wickets in hand. The chase began cautiously as Mohammad Rizwan and Sajid Khan looked to steady the innings, playing out early pressure from the Bangladesh attack.
Bangladesh’s bowlers kept the pressure on from the outset, with pace spearhead Nahid Rana troubling the batters, though early chances went begging in the field.
The breakthrough finally came through Taijul Islam, who dismissed Sajid Khan for 28, breaking a key resistance stand. The decisive moment followed soon after when Shoriful Islam removed Rizwan, who was closing in on a century, shifting momentum firmly in Bangladesh’s favour.
Pakistan’s resistance collapsed rapidly thereafter. Taijul struck again to remove Khurram Shahzad, before Bangladesh wrapped up the innings soon after.
Taijul Islam led the attack with a six-wicket haul, while Nahid Rana took two wickets. Shoriful Islam and Mehidy Hasan Miraz claimed one wicket each as Pakistan lost their final three wickets in quick succession.
With the win, Bangladesh national cricket team completed a 2–0 series sweep, marking one of their most significant Test achievements at home, driven by a dominant bowling performance across both matches.
