Bangladesh draw Sri Lanka, UAE and Indonesia as Women's Asia Cup groups

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has unveiled the fixtures and group stage lineup for the sixth edition of the Women's Asia Cup T20, placing Bangladesh in Group B alongside Sri Lanka, hosts United Arab Emirates and Indonesia.

The draw means Nigar Sultana's side will avoid India and Pakistan in the group stage, with the two rivals grouped together in Group A alongside Thailand and Hong Kong.

The tournament will get underway on August 28, with Bangladesh opening their campaign against Indonesia on August 31. They will then face defending champions Sri Lanka on September 6, before taking on the UAE on September 8 in their final group-stage fixture.

Each team will play the other sides in its group once, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semi-finals. The semi-finals are scheduled for September 10, while the final will be played on September 13.

One of the tournament's marquee fixtures, the India-Pakistan clash, is set for September 5.

All matches will be staged under floodlights at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, with play beginning at 6:30 pm local time.

India remain the most successful team in Women's Asia Cup history with three titles, while Bangladesh lifted the trophy in 2018, becoming the first team other than India to win the tournament. Sri Lanka, the reigning champions, will be aiming to defend their crown.
