The Bangladesh Embassy in Kuwait has issued an urgent advisory for Bangladeshi expatriates after Kuwaiti authorities evacuated residents, including Bangladeshis, from several unsafe buildings in the Hasabiya and Abbasiya areas as part of an ongoing safety and immigration enforcement drive.

Evicted residents have been temporarily accommodated at a government-run shelter in Hasabiya, where food, drinking water and air-conditioned facilities have been arranged.

A high-level Bangladesh Embassy delegation, led by Counsellor and Head of Mission Mohammad Moniruzzaman and Labour Counsellor Shoaib-ul-Islam Tarafder, visited the shelter to assess the condition of Bangladeshi nationals and held discussions with Kuwaiti officials overseeing the operation.

According to Kuwaiti authorities, the campaign aims to clear unsafe buildings and identify undocumented foreign nationals. Similar operations may be extended to other parts of the country.

Officials said expatriates with valid residency documents will be allowed to leave the shelter after verification, while undocumented migrants will be transferred to deportation centres for repatriation. Those staying at the shelter are not permitted to leave for work or other purposes during the verification process.

In light of the ongoing operation, the Bangladesh Embassy has urged all Bangladeshi expatriates in Kuwait to keep their residency status and other legal documents up to date and to carry their Civil ID or other valid identification at all times to avoid complications.
