Bangladesh end second day in frustration over 'poor' fielding

Bangladesh left the field with mixed feelings on the second day of the ongoing Test against Pakistan in Mirpur. On one hand, they posted a big total in the first innings; on the other, frustration grew over multiple dropped catches.

Bangladesh were bowled out for 413 in their first innings. In reply, Pakistan finished the second day at 179 for 1, trailing by 234 runs with nine wickets in hand.

Pakistan openers Aamir Jamal and Imam-ul-Haq made a solid start, putting on 106 runs for the opening wicket. Mehidy Hasan Miraz broke the stand, dismissing Imam for 45.

Abdullah Fazal then joined Aamir, and the pair saw off the day without further damage.

Bangladesh's fielding was particularly disappointing. Pakistan capitalised on several dropped catches, allowing them to build a significant partnership. Despite pressure from the bowlers, the hosts could not capitalise.

At stumps, Aamir Jamal remained unbeaten on 85 and Abdullah Fazal on 37.

Despite having a substantial first-innings lead, Bangladesh now find themselves on the back foot due to missed chances.
