Bangladesh engages Silicon Valley CEOs on tech investment, strategic partnerships

Bangladesh has stepped up efforts to attract technology investment and build strategic partnerships with Silicon Valley companies, with a high-level delegation holding talks with leading CEOs, entrepreneurs and investors in California.

The CEO and Senior Executive Roundtable, titled “Technology Investment and Strategic Partnerships for Bangladesh’s Growth,” was hosted by the Consulate General of Bangladesh in Los Angeles at the Four Seasons Hotel Silicon Valley on September 27.

The delegation was led by Prime Minister’s Adviser for Finance and Planning Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir. State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam, State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Boby Hajjaj, and Prime Minister’s Adviser for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology and Science and Technology Rehan Asif Asad were also part of the delegation.

Bangladesh Consul General in Los Angeles Kazi Muhammad Jabed Iqbal and officials from the Prime Minister’s Office attended the meeting.

The discussion was moderated by CarMax Executive Vice President and Chief Information and Technology Officer Shamim Mohammad. Among the prominent participants were Replit founder and CEO Amjad Masad, Zscaler founder, chairman and CEO Jay Chaudhry, and Dr Omar Ishrak, former chairman of Intel and former chairman and CEO of Medtronic.

The talks focused on practical opportunities for investment and collaboration in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, semiconductor design and manufacturing, digital infrastructure, education and skills development, venture capital, healthcare technology, Earth observation and advanced manufacturing.

The Bangladeshi delegation highlighted the country’s technology and human-capital potential and discussed opportunities to deepen engagement with global technology companies, investors and entrepreneurs.
