Bangladesh, EU hold high-level talks to deepen strategic ties

Bangladesh and the European Union (EU) have discussed ways to deepen bilateral relations, expand trade and strengthen cooperation on key regional and global issues during a high-level meeting held on the sidelines of the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) in Manila, the Philippines.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bangladesh's Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman met with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and European Commission Vice-President Kaja Kallas during the forum.

The two sides exchanged views on enhancing Bangladesh-EU relations, increasing bilateral trade and broadening economic engagement.

They also reaffirmed the importance of sustained multilateral cooperation to address global challenges and advance United Nations reforms.

The meeting also highlighted the need for continued international support to achieve a durable solution to the Rohingya crisis, with both sides underscoring the importance of sustained global engagement on the issue.

Prime Minister's Adviser on Foreign Affairs Humayun Kabir was also present at the meeting.
