Bangladesh exit Junior Asia Cup in quarter-finals after loss to Japan

Bangladesh have lost to a strong Japan side in the quarter-finals of the Under-20 Junior Asia Cup hockey in Moki, China. The Bangladesh women's team went down 2-0 to Japan in a competitive match on Thursday, September 10.

Bangladesh had advanced to the knockout stage with confidence after finishing as unbeaten champions of the Challenger Pool in the group phase. They fought hard against Japan in the quarter-final as well, but failing to convert their scoring chances ultimately saw Bangladesh leave the field with a defeat.

However, this loss does not end Bangladesh's campaign in the tournament. Bangladesh will play their final placing match on September 12, where they will face either Malaysia or South Korea.

A win in that match will see Bangladesh finish fifth in the Junior Asia Cup, while a loss will leave them finishing sixth.

Bangladesh head coach Arif Ali, however, is still dreaming of the World Cup.
