Bangladesh finish runners-up after losing to Pakistan
Bangladesh had to settle for runners-up position after losing to hosts Pakistan in the final of the Kava Men's Volleyball Championship. Pakistan won the title by beating Bangladesh 3-0 in the final held in Islamabad on Wednesday. The hosts had also won by the same margin in the league phase earlier.
In the first set of the final, both teams were tied at 7-7 initially. However, Pakistan then picked up points consistently and regained momentum to win the set 25-20. In the second set, Bangladesh took the lead several times but failed to hold on to the advantage. Despite leading 10-9 at one stage, Pakistan eventually won the set 25-16, moving closer to the title.
Bangladesh fought hard in the third set as well. But the hosts capitalised on errors at crucial moments to win the set 25-20 and seal the match.
Despite finishing runners-up, Bangladesh put up a commendable performance throughout the tournament. The Reds and Greens finished the competition with five wins and two losses in seven matches. Bangladesh had reached the final by beating Uzbekistan in straight sets in the semi-final.
