Bangladesh High Commissioner meets Maldives Defence Minister

Bangladesh High Commissioner to the Maldives, Md Nazmul Islam, paid a courtesy call on Maldives Defence and National Security Minister Hassan Rashid.

The Bangladesh High Commission in Male confirmed the meeting on Thursday (July 23).

During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their firm commitment to further strengthening defence diplomacy, military cooperation, institutional partnership and strategic relations between Bangladesh and the Maldives, said the High Commission.

The discussions included constructive exchanges on military training and professional education, cooperation between defence institutions, maritime security, humanitarian assistance and disaster response, capacity building and the prospects for formulating future defence cooperation.

Both sides expressed optimism about further expanding Bangladesh-Maldives defence cooperation to strengthen peace, stability and security in the Indian Ocean region.
