Bangladesh leap 73 spots in FIVB world rankings

Bangladesh have made a giant leap in international volleyball rankings, thanks to their impressive performance at the ongoing Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA) Men's Championship in Islamabad, Pakistan. After beating Uzbekistan 3-0 in the semi-final on Tuesday, Bangladesh not only secured a place in the final but also jumped from 148th to 75th in the latest FIVB rankings, climbing 73 spots in one go.

So far, the team have won five matches in the tournament. After beating Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Nepal and Sri Lanka in the league phase, they defeated Uzbekistan again in the semi-final to confirm their final berth. Their only loss came against hosts Pakistan.

Bangladesh will face hosts Pakistan again in the final on Wednesday. The team, led by Haroshit Biswas, will take the field with the aim of avenging that league-phase defeat and winning the title.

Bangladesh previously won the CAVA Championship once before, in 2016 when they hosted the tournament in Dhaka and beat Kyrgyzstan. Now they have the opportunity to repeat that success.
