Bangladesh lifts restrictions on IPL broadcasts
The Bangladesh government has removed all restrictions on the broadcast of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in the country, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has confirmed today (March 28).
State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Zahir Uddin Swapon told German news outlet Deutsche Welle that while no formal applications for IPL broadcasting have been received yet, any requests will be considered positively.
He added that the government does not view sports as a political issue, and channels seeking permission to air IPL matches will face no obstacles. Foreign sports channels will also be allowed to broadcast IPL without government intervention.
Previously, IPL broadcasts in Bangladesh faced various restrictions, but the new stance reflects a more flexible approach toward sports media coverage.
