Bangladesh lost by 4 wickets to Australia in the first T20I of the three-match series. After being all out for 131 runs in the allotted 20 overs, Australia chased down the target of 132 with 4 wickets and 10 balls to spare.

Bangladesh were under pressure from the start due to a batting collapse. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals and failed to build a big score. At one point, the home side were in deep trouble having lost 8 wickets before reaching 100 runs. In the end, a fighting innings from Mehidy Hasan helped the team somehow reach 131 runs.

In reply, Australia lost a few wickets early but Cooper Connolly’s explosive 47 off 27 balls helped them reach the target comfortably. Although Bangladesh’s bowlers picked up some wickets in the middle and tried to make a comeback, the visitors had no trouble chasing the modest total.

Among Bangladesh’s bowlers, Shariful, Mustafizur, Mehidy, and Rishad took one wicket each. However, due to the low target, the home side could not put up a big fight.

With this loss, Australia took a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. Bangladesh now face a big challenge to bounce back in the next match.
