Bangladesh, Pakistan to focus on joint art exhibitions: High Commissioner
Pakistan High Commissioner in Dhaka Imran Haider said joint exhibitions featuring Bangladeshi and Pakistani visual artists and craftsmen are being prioritised to strengthen cultural ties between the two countries.
He made the remarks after a courtesy meeting with Bangladesh’s Minister for Cultural Affairs Nitai Roy Chowdhury and State Minister Ali Nawaz Mahmud Khayyam at the Secretariat on Thursday (April 2).
The talks focused on strengthening cooperation in cultural exchange, preserving heritage, and promoting education.
Both sides emphasised effective implementation of existing bilateral cultural frameworks, including the 1979 cultural cooperation agreement and the “Cultural Exchange Programme 2025–2028.”
Exchanges of artists, musicians, and craftsmen, along with specialised training in heritage restoration, were also highlighted as key areas of collaboration.
High Commissioner Haider reiterated Pakistan’s focus on organising joint exhibitions, while State Minister Khayyam stressed that increased artistic and cultural exchanges would deepen bilateral relations.
The meeting also covered scholarships and fellowships for students from both countries to promote education and research.
Senior officials from the Ministry of Cultural Affairs and the Pakistani High Commission were present during the meeting.
