Bangladesh reach Super Six in Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifiers
Bangladesh have advanced to the Super Six stage of the Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifiers after a commanding 80-run victory over Namibia on Thursday at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.
After losing the toss and batting first, Bangladesh posted 144 for seven. Sobhana Mostary was the top scorer with 27 off 23 balls, while Dilara Akter added 25 from 17 deliveries. For Namibia, Sylvia Shehepo claimed two wickets for 21 runs.
In reply, Bangladesh bowled out Namibia for 64 in 17.5 overs. Sanjida Akter Meghla delivered an outstanding spell, taking four wickets for just 14 runs to earn the player-of-the-match award. Rabea Khan and Fahima Khatun also impressed, picking up three wickets each.
This was Bangladesh’s third consecutive win in the qualifiers, following earlier victories over the United States and Papua New Guinea. With this result, Bangladesh have moved into the Super Six and taken another step closer to securing a place in the Women’s T20 World Cup, scheduled to be held in England in June. A top-four finish in the Super Six will guarantee direct qualification for the World Cup.
Bangladesh’s consistent and strong performances in the qualifiers have raised hopes of a positive showing at the global tournament.
