Bangladesh seal dominant innings victory over Ireland in Sylhet Test
Bangladesh crushed Ireland by an innings and 47 runs in the Sylhet Test to secure a dominant victory in their second-ever meeting in the format.
The hosts batted only once, producing a record-breaking performance to take full control of the match.
Bangladesh posted 587 for 8 (declared), their highest Test total at home. Mahmudul Hasan Joy led the innings with a superb 171, while captain Najmul Hossain Shanto added a fluent 100 off 114 balls, giving Bangladesh a massive 301-run lead.
Ireland struggled throughout the match. After being dismissed for 286 in the first innings, they collapsed to 86 for 5 by the end of Day 3, unable to handle Bangladesh’s spin attack.
Debutant Hasan Murad and Taijul Islam kept the pressure on with tight, wicket-taking spells.
The remaining Irish wickets fell on the fourth day, confirming Bangladesh’s victory.
