Bangladesh has sought Spain's support in its transition process from least developed country status. Bangladesh also urged Spain to stand by the international community's continued support for a sustainable resolution of the Rohingya crisis.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam made the request during a courtesy meeting with Spanish Ambassador to Bangladesh Gabriel Sistiauga at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday, June 8.

They also exchanged views on regular bilateral consultation meetings and high-level visit exchanges to further energise bilateral relations.
The Spanish ambassador congratulated Bangladesh on the election of the country's candidate as President of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly for the 2026-2027 term.
