Bangladesh set a 246-run target for New Zealand
Bangladesh are playing their game of the ICC Cricket World Cup today at M Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The Kiwis won the toss and invited Bangladesh to bat first. The Tigers scored 245 runs for the loss of 9 wickets after 50 overs.
Bangladesh lost Litton Das on the first ball of the match. The other opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim was unable to a big innings. He also returned to pavilion, scoring 16 runs off 17 balls. Najmul Hossain Shanto failed again, after the 'golden duck' against England, he scored only 7 runs today.
Bangladesh lost 3 wickets for 56 runs. Then captain Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim took the responsibility of the team. They added 96 runs in a fourth-wicket partnership. Shakib departed after playing an innings of 40 runs from 51 balls. Mushfiqur Rahim got his second consecutive fifty of the tournament. This experienced batter scored 66 runs off 75 balls.
Mahmudullah Riyad and Taskin Ahmed took Bangladesh to 245 runs. Mahmudullah remained unbeaten on 41 off 49 balls while Taskin scored 17. Lockie Ferguson captured three wickets, Trent Boult and Matt Henry took two wickets each.
